The Friends meet the first Wednesday of the month, except January, at 9:00 am in the annex of the library. New members are always welcome.
Mission
The mission of the CMPL Friends is to supplement the financial needs of the library which are not met by the contract with the taxing district, to increase the public awareness and use of library services, and to aid the library staff in the development and implementation of quality library service and programming.
History
CMPL Friends was incorporated in March of 2009 to provide support to the library. The group assists the library with funds for materials and projects that may fall outside the regular library budget. In addition, the group supports and participates in events sponsored by the library including providing refreshments for library activities, volunteering to help with the summer reading program, and landscaping the library’s yard.
In November 2011, the Friends group received 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service. This status allows contributions to the CMPL Friends to be tax-deductible under section 170 of the IRS code.
